Programme Officer (Quantitative Research)  

Job Objective  

TEP Centre is Nigeria’s pioneer education partnership organisation, specialising in research, design, implementation, support and evaluation of education programmes, projects and initiatives across the public, private and non-profit sectors. We seek to fill the role of a Programme Officer (Quantitative Research).

The ideal candidate will have strong research, analytical skills, communication skills and a proven ability to plan and manage organisational systems. The successful candidate will work as a key part of the core implementation team to coordinate the design and delivery of various programmes within the organisation.

Job Title:  Programme Officer (Quantitative Research)

Reports to:  Research Manager

Key Roles and Responsibilities
The PO will support and be partly responsible for:
  • Assisting with all aspects of research design including proposal development, documentation of project requirements, research plan development and budgeting
  • Assisting in developing accurate and efficient tests to be used in surveys that are to be carried out.
  • Working with teams to ensure the use of ideal tools for project operations, whilst ensuring the accuracy and reliability of data used or gathered
  • Reviewing and drafting test development tools with developers
  • Organizing workshops wherein tools to be used in the development of tests are drafted
  • Transforming raw scores into practical numbers and figures
  • Running preliminary and inferential tests to understand data observations.
  • Contributing to research dissemination outputs and activities
  • Supporting data preparation process such as: data cleaning, creation of identifiers and compilation of data code book
  • Supporting field processes for survey administration and process re-checks in states.
  • Representing the organization when and where necessary.
Technical and Behavioural competencies

  • Assisting with all aspects of research design including proposal development, documentation of project requirements, research plan development and budgeting
  • Securing all necessary ethical clearance for data collection; managing and analysing large datasets, overseeing data quality control, and developing and maintaining a project reporting framework
  • Writing and compiling a variety of research deliverables including reports, white papers, infographics, and articles that document processes and findings in writing and through data visualizations
  • Identifying and maintaining an active Risks and Issues log, meeting notes and journal of lessons learnt from projects
  • Contributing to research dissemination outputs and activities
  • Working closely with international and national stakeholders as well as in-country teams to ensure projects are delivered to schedule and within budget
  • Representing the organization when and where necessary

Job Title:  Senior Programme Officer (SPO)

Reports to:  Programme Director

Key Roles and Responsibilities
The SPO will be responsible for:
  • Creating and implementing best practice research vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance
  • Performing research, data collection, economic, statistical and demographic analysis using professionally accepted techniques and methodologies
  • Working with various partners and stakeholders for analysis and research to perform other quantitative and qualitative research as needed
  • Writing and compiling a variety of research deliverables including reports, white papers, infographics, and articles that document processes and findings in writing and through data visualizations
  • Working closely with international and national stakeholders as well as in country teams to ensure projects are delivered to schedule and within budget.
  • Elaborating the organisation’s strategic framework for further evolution, including identifying and pursuing relevant research development opportunities
  • Analysing data provided from surveys to inform decision making processes
  • Comparing and contrasting different approaches, methodologies and materials to develop the best and inform decision making process and ensuring research delivery methodology is appropriately followed
  • Identifying and deploying technical skill sets, resource levels and systems to delivering projects, and engaging external resources when required
  • Managing the production and dissemination of appropriate information materials (e.g. publications, policy briefs) in line with organisation’s overall communication guidelines and practice

Job Title:  TCAMP Trainee (TCAMPer)

Reports to:  Programme Director

Key Roles and Responsibilities
The TCAMPer will be responsible for:
  • Receiving training and performing duties in several departments within the organisation
  • Observing experienced colleagues to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures, and standards required for performance of departmental duties
  • Receiving training in functions and operations of related departments to facilitate subsequent transferability between departments
  • Writing and compiling a variety of research deliverables including reports, white papers, infographics, and articles that document processes and findings in writing and through data visualizations
  • Assisting in developing accurate and efficient tests to be used in surveys that are to be carried out
  • Assisting in organizing workshops wherein tools to be used in the development of tests are drafted
  • Supporting data entry, processing, analysis and validation
  • Assisting in publicising, managing and planning events, workshops and conferences with attention to financial and time constraints
  • Assisting in developing training schedules and training notes
  • Assisting in booking venues and scheduling speakers at events
  • Assisting in negotiating with various vendors to achieve most favourable terms
  • Evaluating event’s success and submitting reports
