Human Resources Assistant  

Job Objective

We seek to fill the role of a Human Resources Assistant for our organisation.

Job Title:  Human Resources Assistant (HRA)

Reports to:  Head of the Human Resources Unit

Key Roles and Responsibilities
The HRA will be responsible for:
  • Assisting with day to day operations of the Human Resources Unit
  • Support all internal and external HR related enquiries or requests
  • Compiling and maintaining employee records (hard and soft copies)
  • Assisting with recruitment processes by identifying candidates, performing reference checks and issuing employment contracts
  • Maintaining calendars of HR management team
  • Processing documentation and preparing reports pertaining to personnel activities (staffing, recruitment, training, grievances, performance evaluations etc)
  • Assisting in coordinating HR projects (meetings, training, surveys etc) and taking minutes
  • Assisting in coordinating training sessions and seminars
  • Assisting in dealing with employee requests regarding human resources issues, rules, and regulations
  • Assisting in payroll preparation by providing relevant data (absences, bonus, leaves, etc)
  • Communicating with public services (Pension managers, Health insurance managers, tax executives) when necessary
  • Assisting in handling complaints and grievance procedures
  • Conducting orientation sessions for new hires
  • Maintaining employee confidence and protecting operations by keeping human resource information confidential
  • Keeping up-to-date with the latest HR trends and best practices
Technical and Behavioural competencies
  • Proven experience in human resource management
  • Effective HR administration and people management skills
  • Passionate about education transformation in Nigeria.

Experience/ Qualification
  • Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Social Sciences or related field (possession of a MSc is an added advantage)
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience as an HR Assistant/Executive
  • Multilingual speaker desirable
  • Based in Lagos and willing to travel nationally

Programme Assistant (Communication and Knowledge Management)  

Job Objective  

TEP Centre is Nigeria’s pioneer education partnership organisation, specialising in research, design, implementation, support and evaluation of education programmes, projects and initiatives across the public, private and non-profit sectors. We seek to fill the role of a Programme Assistant (Communications and Knowledge Management) for our organisation.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and a proven ability to plan and manage programmes within the Communications department. The successful candidate will work as a key part of the core implementation team to coordinate the communications and knowledge management designs within the organisation.

Job Title:  Programme Assistant (PA)

Reports to:  Head of the Communication Unit

Key Roles and Responsibilities
Programme Development - Communications
The PA will support and be partly responsible for:
  • Assist in coordination of programmes within the Communications department
  • Actively update and manage the company’s database system and media list
  • Provide administrative support to programme teams
  • Manage information and facilitate internal operations and proofread documents including reports and communiqués
  • Draft and edit communications copy (e.g. press releases, publications, social media posts and public relations functions)
  • Assist in implementing communications/digital strategies that meet various corporate objectives
  • Assist in implementing communications strategies around core programmes and projects
  • Research and draft copy for print and digital channels, including interviewing, editing, proof-reading and collating amendments from colleagues
  • Work with the Communications Officer to research media stories, develop press releases and draft press materials
  • Help implement our social media strategy and support the day to day management of our social media profiles
  • Research, maintain and update media lists and stakeholder contacts
  • Assist in the implementation and management of a communication forward planning system
  • Assist in coordinating communications for internal events as well as liaising and managing communications coverage of external events
  • Work with graphic designers to produce high quality materials as required and manage the production process from concept to delivery
  • Assist in the management of web content, company profile and executing social media strategies
  • Manage the production and distribution of e-newsletters, including writing content and sourcing images
  • Support internal communications, through developing and distributing regular internal e-newsletters and other activities as required
  • Assist with other communications tasks as required
Technical and Behavioural competencies
The ideal candidate must:
  • Have excellent analytical skills, strong research and writing skills and proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Love writing and possess a range of technical writing skills including those required for blog posts and other social media commentary, reports, and communiques
  • Possess knowledge management competencies, with ability to organise large quantities of corporate information
  • Be highly organised, reliable attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Have excellent inter-personal skills, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, partners, external actors and allies
  • Have the ability to work under-pressure, meet deadlines and prioritise workloads
  • Have the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team with respect for diversity and to respond positively to mentoring and direction
Experience/ Qualification
  • Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field from a recognised tertiary institution
  • Minimum of 2 years cognate experience in any of the following: development sector, research, education, policy advocacy
  • Experience in working with international development organisations (working on development and/or donor/grant funded programmes will be an added advantage)
  • Multilingual speaker desirable, especially in French
  • Based in Lagos and willing to travel extensively nationally and internationally
